Chris Pigeon has only been with Barry-Wehmiller for two years, but he believes he has found his forever home — and you can’t have a home without a family.

For Chris, Vice President of Technology and Operations at CARR Biosystems — Barry-Wehmiller’s bioprocessing solutions company — his team has become exactly that.

“I haven't found a reason that I regret joining the organization,” Chris said. “I knew coming in, no organization is perfect, but BW has been, by far, within my two years, the best organization I've worked for.”

Before he applied for his role at CARR Biosystems, which manufactures centrifugal separation systems, Chris already had an appreciation for Barry-Wehmiller.

“I’ve read Bob’s book,” Chris said. “I’ve worked with other BW organizations in my past history, and the people I interacted with as suppliers to my team was always a very positive experience. It was something I was looking forward to.”

Now, two years into his tenure with CARR Biosystems, he believes that he has finally found what he has been searching for all along.

“That’s kind of what I’ve been looking for, to be part of an organization that does value the team and inputs,” Chris said.

Chris enjoys working with people, but he also finds satisfaction in seeing how things improve over time. Much of Barry-Wehmiller and CARR Biosystems’ future is focused on the idea of continuous improvement — the ongoing improvement of products, services and processes to achieve key measures of success. Through operational excellence, the organization collects best practices and shares them across teams to help everyone achieve better outcomes.

For CARR Biosystems, this commitment to improvement carries extraordinary significance. Their centrifuges serve critical applications in cell and gene therapy, vaccine production and other life-saving biotechnology segments. For CARR, continuous improvement is more than a good business practice — it’s essential to supporting the health and wellbeing of society.

“[I enjoy] the variety and being able to see the team growing, our processes getting more defined, our products getting better,” Chris said. “And you know what our future roadmap looks like and working to get there. This continuous improvement effort is going to help us to be able to achieve some of the future vision that we have.”

The harmony of people and performance is the key to success in a thriving business. And the continuous improvement mindset allows the organization to keep striving toward that goal.

“People and performance in harmony is something we aspire to and work towards,” Chris said. “It's not all roses, and it's not perfect today, but we all are working to make it to that — people and performance in harmony and [making people] feel valued and fulfilled.”

Barry-Wehmiller’s Truly Human Leadership philosophy is built on the belief that the way we lead impacts the way people live. It ensures that team members feel safe, cared for and valued every day.

“I'm grateful to have the opportunity to work here in this environment, with this team, and experience the business and the environment that we have,” Chris said. “It has been a refreshing adventure so far. [I’m] looking forward to what we can do in the future.”
