One of my favorite Simon Sinek quotes says:
In the military, they give medals to people who sacrifice themselves so that others may gain. In business, they give bonuses to people who sacrifice others so that they may gain.
Someone who understands that quote very well is John Michel, this week’s guest on the Everybody Matters podcast. A former Air Force General, John has not only used his leadership experience in service of his country, but also to help transform businesses into places that think more about people than profit.
John has written two books, (No More) Mediocre Me: How Saying No to the Status Quo Will Propel You From Ordinary to Extraordinary and The Art of Positive Leadership. He was the founder of GeneralLeadership.com and he has written articles for the Harvard Business Review, Fast Company, Huffington Post, National Geographic, Joint Forces Quarterly, and the Washington Post.
In addition to writing and speaking about leadership, John is the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer and President of Global Operations for MV Transportation, America’s largest privately held transportation company.
John talks about his leadership journey on this week’s edition of the Everybody Matters podcast, from his life in the military to what he is doing today.
