This week’s episode of the Everybody Matters podcast features a little bit of talk about listening.

Author and “pro-activist,” Lynne Twist is our guest this week. For decades, Lynne has worked to alleviate poverty and hunger and supported social justice and environmental sustainability. Her tenure as chief fundraising officer for The Hunger Project is among her many accomplishments, for whom she helped raise over 200 million dollars.

Lynne’s bestselling book Soul of Money: Transforming Your Relationship With Money and Life helps others look differently at money and consider conscious philanthropy as a way to find fulfillment. She’s been a featured speaker at a number of TEDx events, including TEDx Wall Street.  I met Lynne last fall when we both spoke at the Success 3.0 Summit in Boulder, Co. I invited her to come to St. Louis and attend one of Barry-Wehmiller’s Communications Skills classes. After that experience, Lynne spoke to us about her work and gave her thoughts on the importance of empathetic listening.

Also featured on this podcast is Holly Swift, executive director of Our Community Listens, a private operating foundation started by the Chapman family. Its mission is to take Barry-Wehmiller’s powerful and proven communication skills training class used in the business setting to our communities to enhance personal relationships and communities as well.
