Jamie Teer of BW Finance Team receives Bob Chapman GPL Award

After a hiatus due to COVID-19, the Guiding Principles of Leadership Award returned to the St. Louis headquarters last month. Renamed the Bob Chapman GPL Award—to honor Bob’s tireless work to create workplace

cultures where team members feel valued and cared for—the 2023 award was given to Jamie Teer, Accounts Payable Shared Services Leader for BW's Corporate Finance Team. Nominator Pam McCully called Jamie a "true mentor that guides her team to strive for excellence. She encourages others to thrive and takes challenges to improve oneself as we grow." Sharon Price, another nominator, said Jamie "has cultivated a successful AP team that has overcome multiple challenges and obstacles. She has instilled trust in seasoned team members in order to gain an understanding of their experiences and at the same time encouraged them to change their processes and sometimes their mindset in order to achieve department goals and expectations."

St. Louis team members were invited to the beach-themed event, which included leis, sunglasses, beach balls, and a life-size bucket and shovel that hid Jamie's family.

BW President Kyle Chapman (far left) participated in the skit by dressing up as a snorkeler coming up from the beach after finding a message in a bottle.

NEW TECH TIP

Protect your privacy by sharing less online

Nearly all apps collect details of your activities, and once you’ve shared information there, it’s no longer possible to control how it’s used. Therefore, think carefully before sharing personal details online. For instance, if a field is “optional,” don’t provide it (such as birthday or phone number). Consider turning off geolocation data for apps, social media posts, photos, and comments. Review privacy settings on the accounts you use regularly, and think about what should be public, hidden, or somewhere in-between. Before downloading a free app, consider how the vendor makes money. If you can’t tell, consider their profit might be from selling user data. Read more about sharing less HERE.
