Additional Cisco AnyConnect VPN Now Available

The BW IT Network Security Team has set up an additional VPN to help increase our bandwidth and network efficiency, which, in turn, helps enhance security and optimize daily performance for our team members.

Who should use this new VPN?

  • Anyone who is experiencing a slow connection can consider changing to the new VPN, labeled Western North America.
  • We specifically recommend that team members located in U.S. Mountain and Pacific time zones consider choosing the Western North America VPN going forward.

Two ways to add the new Western North America VPN to your Cisco AnyConnect:

  • Once you connect to any of our VPNs that are already listed, your AnyConnect profile will be updated, so that the next time you go into AnyConnect, the new Western North America VPN will be one of your choices.
  • If you want to use Western North America immediately, without first connecting to a different VPN, then do this:
  • Type in vpn5.barry-wehmiller.com as shown in this image.
  • Click “connect.” You will be asked to complete the Okta authentication process.
  • Once you have completed Okta authentication, you will be connected to the new Western North America VPN.
  • Going forward, “Western North America” will be one of the choices in your AnyConnect VPN drop-down menu.

Reminder:

BW’s VPN does not add extra protection; rather, the VPN serves as a secure way to access our internal BW applications when working away from your home or BW office.

  • To that end, use the VPN to access internal BW applications such as an ERP or file servers.
  • Do not connect to the VPN if you are only going to access websites or web-based applications such as Outlook, SharePoint, Teams or Workday.
